Hirsch Fruit Farm

"Founded by John P. Hirsch in 1890, Hirsch Fruit Farm has been offering the freshest, best tasting fruits available to Chillicothe and south central Ohio. By 1960, they had nearly 75 acres of apples and peaches. Most of the fruit was sold to local grocers and roadside market operators. At the same time Leo began a small retail outlet located at the packing house & cold storage building right on the farm. In 1969 Hirsch Fruit Farm was incorporated and the retail market was expanded to offer our customers a wider variety of fresh fruits & vegetables, cider, apple butter, jams, & more."

We carry pears, grapes, blackberries, blueberries, apples & more at our markets. Stop by to see what's in season!

Pap’s Hilltop Honey

Bainbridge, OH

Paps Hilltop Honey is a family business owned by Chris and Marc Lewis.
They started in 2007 with two hives. Two hives turned into six hives. Six hives turned into 21 hives. Within a few years, they had grown to over a hundred hives!

They started out by selling honey to their friends and family. Within a few years, they were selling honey at local farmers markets and festivals. Eventually, they started selling honey to local stores and online.

In 2013, they were able to construct a building to house the harvesting and bottling of the honey. In addition, they also applied for and received a commercial kitchen license. This allowed them to expand the operation to include flavored and creamed honey. They are having fun continually developing new products for you to enjoy!
Kate also makes her soaps, lotions and candles in the building. All of her products contain honey and/or beeswax. They are truly products of our hives. She also uses all natural ingredients such as lavender, oatmeal, chamomile and other herbs.

In 2015, they opened the farm store affectionately known as Bee Commander. The new building makes the operation run much more efficiently. It also made their wives extremely happy to get all of that honey out of their kitchen!

Owl’s Nest Garden & Flower Farm

Superior Flowers, Sustainable Farming

My favorite part of flower farming is handing a bouquet to someone and seeing their face light up. It's a unique expression of quiet joy, of fascination with a generous dash of peace. I never get tired of seeing it. On 90+ degree days when I'm sweat and mud streaked and my back is breaking, I recall those faces and they supercharge me.

Flowers make people happy.

I broke ground in 2016 after a 30 year career in IT. That first season I must have learned at least 20 ways to kill baby seedlings. I also learned something even more valuable from my many mistakes. To farm well is to farm the soil not just the crops. Farm the soil and the crops take care of themselves. We practice low-till and no-till farming using organic methods. And the flowers that grow from that soil, rich with life, are strong and vibrant.

I take tremendous pride in bringing you the freshest possible flowers while being a thoughtful steward of the land on which they grow.
